美麗湖邊吃Prime Rib + Oakland Chinatown

Some people asked me how to get to Lake Merritt and Oakland Chinatown. If you take US880 north, get out at Oak St. and turn right. In a few blocks, you can see the lake on your right side. There are free parking on the left side of Oak St. South side of the lake is free parking. Every Monday, Lake Chalet restaurant has a 3-course prime rib special. For $20, you can get a 10 oz. prime rib dinner.

If you turn right at 10th St. before the lake, you can find a free parking lot next to the Oakland Museum. If you turn left, you head directly into Oakland Chinatown. There are some free parking along 10th St. If you are not familiar with Oakland Chinatown, you may just go to Pacific Renaissance Plaza(富興中心) and eat at Gum Kuo(金閣) or at upstair higher scaled restaurant Peony(牡丹閣).

For something special, you may want to eat clay pot rice (煲仔飯) at nearby Best Taste Restaurant (盈豐小館). The popular Peking roast ducks of a Berkeley restaurant are actually bought their ducks at whole sale from this restaurant. Along the 10th ST. You can also get a 3-people meal specail, including 2 big and 5 small 桂林米粉 and soy milk, for $18. Notice this special only posted in front of the store and not in their typical menu.
