Going to San Francisco a day after Christmas 2015

It only costs us $1.2 per person to take the BART (地鐵) to get over the bay and go into the center of San Francisco directly. Shame on us not to do it often and SF is the world famous tourist destination. Compare to driving, this is much more comfortable and has nice view of the bay. The train goes under the bay water to get into SF.

Walk along Powell street uphill and you can get to Union Square, a popular place for tourists. Across street is the famous Westin St. Francis Hotel. Every year they put out a gingerbred house to attract people.

Westfield Mall has a stop for BART. You can shop and eat here before you go out to streets. At the top of 5th floor under the dome, a restaurant bears my friend's name.

    Hello, 各位校友、朋友,
    新年快樂! 新年resolution: 行健康之道，然後前往高原地區(馬丘比丘、川西) 旅行。 哈
    我之前email 提到養生之道，email 地址好像弄亂了，有的人沒看到，現在把email 附在後面。我開始learnt about Epigenetics表徵遺傳學 & Microbiome 微生物群。有專家，請指正。
    但有些人還是不明白Epigenetics，讓我簡單的說明一下。以前我談的基因人類學，全屬於傳統遺傳學。Epigenetics是與遺傳學Genetics 相對應的概念, 是1980年代逐漸興起的一門學科，用來研究在遺傳學中無法解釋的現象, 不基於基因變異所導致的變化, 而是打開優良基因，關閉不良基因，使你能夠健康長壽。
    2008年美國NIH投資1.9億美元用於Epigenetics研究, 去了解老化機制，人類發育和癌症起源，心臟病，精神疾病及其他的健康狀況的潛力。 Time雜誌於 2010 年 發表了一個特別報導 "Why Your DNA Isn’t Your Destiny" 雖然有點過時，但它很容易閱讀。(Link at bottom)
    身體好了，可少擔心高原反應。先試馬丘比丘, 再去川西、西藏。最近一些朋友去川西，說風景非常美, 有許多少數民族世世代代居住在青藏高原的東緣。據稱蒙古滅西夏國後，大批后宮妃嬪流入川西一帶，建立了「東女國」, 女王住在九層的碉樓上。
    之前中國對西夏不清楚, 後來才發現出土的文獻多數在俄羅斯。原來台灣歷史系猶太裔教授郭靜云, 就是俄羅斯國家科學院東方學研究所博士。 西夏最鼎盛時,是今天中國版圖的十分之一。 唐古特(Tangut西夏) 是 成吉思汗最恨的peoples. 最近有些朋友喜歡看新做的記錄片: 神秘的西夏10集, 河西走廊10集。(Links inside)
